It’s antibacterial ingredient could also make it a good addition to a first aid kit for scrapes. Though there have been major criticisms about colloidal silver, as we’ll still discuss in this article, it’s important to know that getting its benefits also requires picking the right product to use.

In this article, you would learn about the benefits of colloidal, how to apply it to skin infections and other areas and some things to look out for to keep safe.

Studies have shown that it is a great germ-fighting agent and more effective than other options in treating, dressing, and reducing infections of wounds. Also, some dose of it has often been used as an ingredient in specific acne treatments.

Wong Siew Wei, MD, at The Cancer Centre and Singapore Medical Group had said “the use of silver as vessels to store food and drink to avoid spoilage was common in ancient civilizations,” speaking about the historical significance of it. Currently, colloidal silver is used in dietary supplements and skin products.

However, so far ingestion of this is done in small doses, it could reduce the side effects and the risk of argyria. Also, it’s important to stay away from sellers claiming their dietary supplements that have silver can cure coronavirus or other major viruses.

How to apply colloidal silver to skin?

There is no specific desired dose of colloidal silver supplements. Especially because it is still known the level of silver toxicity that has adverse effects. It is not uncommon to find stories of people with skin that turned blue from uneducated use of colloidal silver.

So as not to worry about side effects of colloidal silver, it is important to learn how to treat acne on the skin. Check for the manufacturer’s advised use first. The manufacturer must have given instructions on the dose of colloidal silver except your doctor or another healthcare practitioner says otherwise. In my 7 week clear skin program, I go through this process in much detail

You should start using the smallest dose, then see how your skin reacts before you up the dose. Also, your weight, age and health status play a part on how much dose you can apply. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on a dosing reference chart suggests that daily silver exposure shouldn’t exceed 5 micrograms per every kilogram the user weighs.

Some helpful tips for using colloidal silver skin care for acne treatment

Is colloidal silver skin care safe?

Lots of studies have indicated that this kind of treatment has major side effects to the skin.
Some of those include:

  • Dietary supplements can cause Argyria, which is the most common. It is a bluish discoloration of the skin, which could be permanent as a result of overdose on silver.
  • Misleading claims of colloidal silver skin care producers can lead to adverse effects.
  • Oral colloidal silver isn’t regulated by the FDA.
  • Colloidal can reduce the quick absorption of drugs
  • Has been linked to possible kidney damage and muscle weakness.

Most studies and health practitioners have agreed on using silver on the skin in situations of dressing and treating infections, burns, or wounds. Also, there’s a safe proportion of silver your skin can be exposed to without side effects. But consuming it for the purpose of preventing or healing viruses like coronavirus is far-fetched.
